🌧️Riding Out a Really Wet Winter

It’s been a challenging winter for roofing work. Between ongoing rain and frequent downpours, keeping roofs watertight and projects moving has taken real determination — but our team have stayed focused and positive throughout.

Why This Winter Has Felt Especially Damp

This winter across the UK has been unusually wet, with the Met Office reporting that England has already exceeded its average seasonal rainfall — hitting 111% of the typical winter total by early February. While every season varies, this level of winter rainfall can make roofing projects harder, especially when waiting on dry windows of opportunity to work safely at height.

In Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas, typical winter rainfall patterns already include frequent wet days, and this year those days have often been back-to-back, leaving soils saturated and skies grey.

Locally on our Facebook page, we’ve shared updates like “sorry we’ve been so quiet – the weather has been playing absolute havoc with us,” but also plenty of photos of progress on site when conditions did allow us to push forward.

What This Means for Roofing Work

Heavy rain affects roofing work in a few practical ways:

  • 🪜 Safety first – Wet, slippery tiles and boards make work at height riskier, so we always prioritise safety, even if that means waiting for a break in the weather before continuing.

  • 🧰 Rescheduling and flexibility – Jobs sometimes need rescheduling when showers interrupt higher-risk tasks.

  • đźšš Progress where we can – When there are dry spells, we make the most of them — getting scaffolding up, fixing leaks, and completing re-roofs promptly.

Even in the rain, our team has kept going where possible, finishing pitched roofs, completing repairs, and helping customers protect their homes from wet weather. Photos from recent weeks show exactly that — making the most of those drier gaps to get work done.

Staying Positive and Prepared

Yes, the weather has slowed us down at times, but we’re still out there working hard, helping homes stay watertight, and keeping Milton Keynes covered roof-to-ridge.

Here’s what we recommend if you’re worried about your roof in wet weather:

✔️ Watch for leaks or damp patches
✔️ Book an inspection if you suspect damage
✔️ Trust trained roofers to judge when it’s safe to work

Our team is always ready to help — rain, shine (or rain again).
